NEXT STEPS TO REOPEN TO THE WORLD

Australia is ready to take steps to safely reopen to the world, with changes coming to the international border in setting out the framework for how international travel will look in the coming months gathers pace.

Plans are that Australian families can be reunited, Australian workers can travel in and out of the country, and Australia can work towards welcoming tourists back.

Within weeks, large parts of the country will be moving to safely reopen Australia and to stay safely open (international travel is on track to reopen safely to fully vaccinated Australian travellers).

Many countries around the world have now safely reopened to international travel and it will shortly be time for Australia to take the next step.

To enable fully vaccinated Australians to travel, the Australian government is finalising new arrangements following the completion of home quarantine pilots in New South Wales and South Australia.

The Government’s intention is that once changes are made in November, the current overseas travel restrictions related to COVID‐19 will be removed and Australians will be able to travel subject to any other travel advice and limits, as long as they are fully vaccinated and those countries’ border settings allow.

Testing is expected to continue to be a requirement of international travel, but subject to further medical advice, Rapid Antigen Tests may be used.

ASC Migration are visa processing specialists who will guide you every step of the way and we have experts in the United Kingdom and Australia at your disposal.

Employer Sponsorship

If you nominate an occupation on the ‘Priority Skilled Occupation’ list, as an employee you will be given priority processing. If you are an employer suffering from a skills shortage in your business, sponsoring skilled workers from overseas is an excellent option to grow your business by providing you with the help you need.

This will apply to employer-sponsored nomination and visa applications, now and in the future, which will allow businesses and migrants to have certainty that eligible nominations and applications will be assessed ahead of other applications.

Many businesses are suffering from a skills shortage but there is a type of visa which, even during the pandemic, allows employers to hire workers from overseas.

The Temporary Skills Shortage Visa (subclass 482) is designed to fill positions in Australia that have not been filled by locals in industries where there is a shortage of available job seekers and is one of the very few categories under which a migrant can apply for a travel exemption to get into Australia.

ASC Migration are visa processing specialists who will guide you every step of the way and we have experts in the United Kingdom and Australia at your disposal.

Labour Agreements

A Labour Agreement (LA) is a formal contract entered into between the Commonwealth and an Australian business where the business is authorised to recruit overseas workers. A Labour Agreement is designed to provide a flexible solution to support Australian businesses where standard temporary or permanent skilled visa programs are not available, and the employer’s recruitment needs cannot be met through the Australian labour market.

Many industries can utilise labour-hire or recruitment companies to source overseas workers, and such companies can be based in Australia or overseas.  While the use of these companies can be an efficient and cost-effective method to source workers, it is quite a complicated process to use this program.
